To comply with Australian laws, you need an electric braking system in NSW if you're towing over 2 tonne GTM.
GTM or Gross Trailer Mass includes the load and the weight of your trailer.
Considering that most trailers weigh in excess of 500kg (even single axle box trailers), that only allows for a 250kg load without having a braking system.
Don't risk the fines or the dangers involved in overloaded towing, get electric brakes installed.

Do you have a Caravan? Make towing your Caravan easier with a set of Towing Mirrors.
Clearview Compact Mirrors combine a more petite mirror frame with a single-lens glass to offer big vision. The mirrors extend out when towing and slide back in for day-to-day driving.
